Hospice After Hours Registered Nurse (RN) Talent Pool Grand Rapids, MI About the Role Provide compassionate, skilled hospice care while enjoying a truly predictable schedule that supports your life outside of work. As a Hospice After Hours Registered Nurse, you'll deliver skilled nursing care and emotional support to patients and families during the overnight hours, responding to urgent needs in the moments they need it most while helping ensure comfort, dignity, and peace at end of life. This role is ideal for an experienced RN who thrives in autonomous practice and is confident making critical clinical decisions in real time. You'll work a consistent 7-on / 7-off night rotation (5pm–8am), giving you half the year off while still earning a full-time salary. With no additional on‑call requirements and all shifts beginning and ending from home, you’ll have a highly structured schedule that allows you to fully disconnect during your time off and plan your life with confidence. During your working nights, you'll assess and manage urgent symptoms, provide skilled nursing interventions, and support families through crisis moments with clinical expertise and compassion. Working independently while coordinating closely with physicians and the hospice team, you'll ensure continuity of care throughout the night and serve as a steady, reassuring presence during some of life's most vulnerable hours. Location Office Location: Grand Rapids, MI Main Service Area Options: Kent Muskegon / Ottawa Newaygo / North Kent Ionia / Montcalm / Mecosta Oceana This role is a high travel position and requires daily travel within the service area to provide care to patients in their homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes. Hours Only 26 weeks per year, on call for 7 nights, then off for the next 7 nights Every other Monday to Sunday, 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. Training takes place Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., for the first 2‑4 weeks Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing Current State License as a Registered Nurse Minimum 1 year experience as a nurse in a clinical care setting Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and valid automobile insurance coverage Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Hospice or home health experience Previous after‑hours or on‑call experience Essential Skills and Competencies Demonstrates clinical nursing competencies in accordance with accepted standards of practice Able to assess and respond appropriately to the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of patients, families, and caregivers in a variety of care settings, including homes and facilities Exhibits strong interpersonal communication skills, emotional resilience, and the ability to support patients and families facing end‑of‑life issues Capable of managing multiple priorities, documentation requirements, and time‑sensitive responsibilities efficiently Pay Range $86,000 – $88,000 USD Benefits Minimum of 3 Weeks Paid Time Off (PTO) Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance HSA and FSA options including Dependent Care Company paid Short Term Disability 401(k) with Employer Match Mileage Reimbursement Company Vehicle Program for field roles Pet Insurance ID and Fraud Protection Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
