Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

In this engaging role, you’ll design and implement individualized instructional programs, working as part of a collaborative team dedicated to delivering a meaningful educational experience. As a Long-Term Substitute for up to two school years, you’ll have the unique chance to further your career—after this period, the school will assist with obtaining your Teacher of the Visually Impaired certificate.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education K-12 required
• Familiarity with educating students who have multiple disabilities, including visual impairment
• Strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills
• Experience teaching students with visual impairments preferred
• Able to perform typical classroom physical tasks (lifting, reaching, pushing wheelchairs, etc.) and maintain a positive, accessible environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop, monitor, and implement IEPs and Re-evaluation Reports in line with school, state, and IDEA standards
• Conduct assessments like Functional Vision and Learning Media Evaluations
• Adapt and modify curriculum and resources (including braille and tactile formats)
• Incorporate assistive technology and specialized teaching strategies
• Lead classroom team meetings, collaborate with families, and guide instructional aides
• Document progress and utilize data to refine instruction
• Support PBIPs and foster social-emotional growth and independence
• Pursue ongoing professional development and share expertise with colleagues

This position offers a consistent weekday schedule in a setting focused on inclusion and growth. Engage in school-wide enrichment and adapted sports programs. Following the long-term substitute period, you’ll receive support toward becoming a certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired through a closely partnered university program.
