Overview Employer : General Dynamics Bath Iron Works Location : 700 Washington Street, Bath, ME 04530, United States Email Address : View email address on click.appcast.io Position Title : Designer, 1st and 2nd Class (REQ ID: 2026-5082) Compensation/Rate : $26.71/hr - $35.57/hr Job description BIW is hiring Marine Designers at the following levels: Responsibilities Perform marine design activities that include, but are not limited to, 3D modeling & visualization. Resolution of design-related problems encountered during ship construction that will involve occasional ship-checking. Development of ship alteration drawings for repair/alteration of ships in the fleet. Electronic drafting of installation & fabrication drawings. Extraction of computer-aided manufacturing data. Proficient in original work of a creative/innovative nature, complex problem solving, or the review/check of other employee's work. Benefits Annual wage and promotion increases Flexible work schedules Vacation/Sick time options 401k matching Future work-from-home opportunities Required/Preferred Education/Training Required: Excellent computer skills (e.g., demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office tools) and demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD, CATIA, Solid Works, or other similar 2-D or 3-D CAD software Required: Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical procedures, standards, and work instructions Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment Preferred: Ability to perform ship checks through visits to the physical construction products on the waterfront or in fabrication facilities, as well as ability to travel to ship homeports on occasion Knowledge in extraction of computer aided manufacturing data - CAD/CAM, MasterCAM, 5Axis, G-Code Required/Preferred Experience 1st Class Required: Minimum of seven (7) years marine design or technically related design experience required, OR Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture), with four (4) years’ design experience required, OR Associate/Vocational School degree with six (6) years design experience required. 3D CAD and/or AutoCAD proficiency. Proficiency in one of the following disciplines: Loft, Structural, Electrical, Pipe, Ventilation, or Hull Outfit. 2nd Class Required: Minimum of four (4) years design experience, OR Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture), OR Associate/Vocational School degree with two (2) years design experience, required. 3D CAD or AutoCAD proficiency. Preferred: Experience with installation and fabrication drawings is highly desirable. Familiar with ship specifications as related to design requirements is highly desirable. #J-18808-Ljbffr
