Import Export Coordinator

The Import/Export Coordinator works with the logistics team, customs brokers and internal customers to create, review and execute international shipments to global destinations. This role ensures the compliant, timely and cost-effective movement of goods across borders. The Import/Export coordinator collaborates with cross-functional departments to ensure commercial documentation accurately reflects the physical shipment, including country of origin, HTS classification, Incoterms and USMCA eligibility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare, review, and issue accurate documents (commercial invoice, packing list, USMCA, EEI and other applicable documents). Maintain import and export document files in accordance with Federal regulations and company policy. Provide Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Schedule B code based on product specifications. Monitor shipments and customs clearance. Communicate status delays to appropriate parties. Manage provisionals for jobs shipping in bulk quantities. Coordinate logistics processes with internal and external customers, vendors and government agencies to ensure timely and compliant delivery. Resolve shipment issues, including damaged or lost materials, and determine when to elevate to management for resolution. Manage priorities based on time-sensitivity and conflicting customer needs. Attend job kick off meetings as required. Remain informed of changes in international trade regulations Execute effective written and oral communication skills, both face-to-face and over the phone Work independently and within a team environment EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency with international documentation, Harmonized Tarif Schedule and Schedule B, USMCA Certificate of Origin preferred. Previous working experience with Customs brokers, forwarders, would be a benefit. Experience in automotive manufacturing.
