Spacecraft Subsystem SME

Position Description ENSCO Inc is seeking a Spacecraft Subsystem SME to join our systems engineering team supporting next‑generation space communication systems for the U.S. Space Force (USSF). The role involves leading technical decisions on spacecraft subsystems, collaborating with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians, and USSF stakeholders. Responsibilities Provide technical leadership and assessment for the ESS Program Office in the delivery of the space vehicle in the areas of Mechanical, Electrical, or Test. Lead trades for unit and subsystem designs, integration, and testing into the spacecraft bus, payload, and space vehicle. Ensure the technical design and interfaces within the space vehicle, as well as the ground and terminal segments. Support all component and unit test programs, including space qualification testing, and develop test documentation such as test plans and reports. Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with government customers, contractors, and FFRDC teammates. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering, mathematics, physics, software, or computer science. 15 years of experience with spacecraft bus or subsystems, OR Master's degree and 12 years of experience. Previous proven coordination experience. Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to perform in highly visible and stressful situations. Space systems engineering experience at the unit, subsystem, spacecraft, or space vehicle level. Must be able to work on site at LAAFB (100% onsite; remote work unavailable). Approximately 10% travel within Southern California and CONUS, dependent on supplier selection. Active DoD Secret security clearance required, with the ability to obtain Top Secret with SCI clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen. Minimum of 10+ years professional experience if holding a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Qualifications Desired DOD or IC space experience preferred. Top Secret with SCI security clearance. Location On‑site at El Segundo, CA. Travel may occur within Southern California and CONUS. Security Clearance Secret clearance required. Eligibility to obtain Top Secret with SCI clearance must be demonstrated. Salary Range $150,000 – $229,000 USD per year.
