Job Description Job Description A leader in thermal processing equipment and environmental test solutions is adding a Mechanical Assembler to its clean, climate-controlled New Columbia facility (warm in winter, cool in summer). The operation designs and builds industrial and laboratory ovens, furnaces, and environmental test chambers serving aerospace, defense, electronics, biotech, medical, pharmaceutical, transportation, and other advanced industries. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. (first shift); overtime as needed Employment Type: Full-time, on-site The Mechanical Assembler fabricates and assembles standard and custom thermal-processing equipment by interpreting schematics/prints, installing mechanical components, and completing in-process checks prior to test. This role rotates across stations based on production demand and contributes to on-time, high-quality shipments. Responsibilities: - Interpret schematics, blueprints, and work instructions to assemble equipment with varying complexity. - Mount and align doors, motors, heaters, blowers/fans, coils, liners, and related options to welded frames. - Position, fasten, and secure components using appropriate hardware; drill and tap holes as specified. - Insulate cabinets and complete mechanical build steps per traveler/sign-off requirements. - Verify parts fit and function; perform self-inspection and document completion before release to test. - Operate basic hand and power tools safely and maintain a tidy, organized work area. - Rotate between workstations as needed to support production schedules and priorities. Key Requirements: - 6-12 months of relevant mechanical assembly experience or equivalent education/experience. - Strong mechanical aptitude; able to read basic blueprints and follow written/diagrammed instructions. - Proficiency with hand/power tools (drills, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, etc.). - Accurate measurement skills: tape measure and square to 1/32"; solid basic math (fractions/decimals). - Basic computer skills to capture data and access job information (e.g., drawings/work orders). - Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet production deadlines. - Physical ability to regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 75 lbs; stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb/balance as required. - Comfort working around moving mechanical equipment in a moderate-noise manufacturing environment. Key Qualifications: - Experience assembling industrial ovens, furnaces, or environmental test equipment. - Familiarity with insulating techniques, drilling/tapping practices, and final mechanical sign-off. - Ability to retrieve CAD drawings and job travelers; experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., BPCS). - Current or willingness to obtain a forklift license.
