The salary range is between $49,257 and $62,311, depending on qualifications, experience, department budgets, and industry data. POSITION OBJECTIVE Case Western Reserve University's websites are one of the most visible touchpoints of the university, and the Web Content Specialist works as part of the web and marketing team to keep them accurate, up to date, and accessible to people of all abilities. This person builds and updates pages in Drupal, applying judgment to assess and remediate accessibility, brand, and usability issues as they arise. They support content editors through help desk requests and website training, and guide stakeholders identified for simplified website solutions through setup and scope. Much of the role is support-forward, with daily collaboration with partners and help desk requests at the center of the job, so it's a great fit for someone who finds that kind of service-oriented work satisfying. Essential Functions Manage Drupal content. Build new pages based on content provided by university partners, update existing pages, select and size photos, and perform Drupal site configuration. (35%) Ensure website compliance with accessibility, brand visual identity, and usability standards by assessing issues and implementing appropriate remediation strategies. (20%) Support Drupal content editors by responding to daily help desk requests and determining the appropriate resolution, referral, or escalation for content, training, and technical issues. (20%) Provide training and guidance to university partners on website content management, including Drupal and basic accessibility, and respond to follow-up questions during drop-in support sessions. (10%) Guide stakeholders through the development of simplified websites by providing consultation on site setup, best practices, and project scope. (10%) Nonessential Functions Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned, which may include site architecture, analytics, or other website-related research. (5%) CONTACTS Department: Daily contact with department staff to maintain workflow and resolve website issues. University: Regular contact with school and department partners to coordinate site updates, address quality concerns, and advise on website solutions. External: Occasional contact with outside vendors and consultants to get support using current website tools, resolve questions, and troubleshoot vendor-related issues. Students: Little or no contact with students. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no direct supervision of staff employees. Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant work experience; OR Associate's degree and 4 years of relevant experience required. Required Skills Proficiency using Drupal to create and update website content Working knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify the root cause of an issue and see it through to resolution Superior attention to detail Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and requests at once Ability to work independently and as part of a group Excellent, thoughtful written and verbal communication skills, especially when supporting non-technical partners Proficiency with standard office and design tools (Google Suite; Photoshop) Ability to demonstrate successful support, education, and advocacy for all students, aligned with the values, mission, and messaging of the university, while adhering to the staff policy on conflict of commitment and interest Ability to meet consistent attendance Willingness to learn and work with artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies Effective interaction with colleagues, supervisors, and partners face to face WORKING CONDITIONS General office working environment. This position offers a hybrid work schedule. This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement up to two remote days per week at the discretion of the department. New employees may begin a hybrid schedule upon approval from the supervisor, successful completion of an orientation period and signing the remote work checklist certification form.
