Job Requisition ID: 57085 Closing Date: 07/15/2026 Agency: Department of Children and Family Services Position Title: Child Protection Specialist (Class: 07163) Job Type: Salaried, Full Time Salary: $6,768/month (anticipated), $6,460 - $9,337/month (range) Location: 401 Brown St, Bloomington, IL 61701 Position Overview The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services seeks an organized, professional, and results‑oriented individual to serve as Child Protection Specialist. This position receives and investigates reports of alleged child abuse and neglect, assesses immediate safety of children, and initiates appropriate child protection services within mandated time limits. Essential Functions Serve as Child Protection Specialist. Prepare and maintain reports, assessments, and case documentation. Select, summarize, and present case material for transfer to permanency caseworker or intact/prevention caseworker. Determine the need for and coordinate placement of children in substitute care facilities. Attend multidisciplinary diagnostic and technical staff conferences to assess needed services. Transport clients during protective custody, placement changes, or facility visits. Perform other duties reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Preferably a master’s degree in social work; or a master’s degree in a related human service field, criminal justice, criminal justice administration, or law enforcement and one year of directly related professional experience. A bachelor’s degree in social work and one year of directly related professional experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a related human service field, criminal justice, criminal justice administration, or law enforcement and two years of directly related professional experience. The college or university issuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree must be accredited, and the degree program in social work must be approved by the Council on Social Work Education. Conditions of Employment Requires ability to travel, including overnight stays, a valid driver’s license, daily vehicle access, and proof of insurance. Requires completion of a background check and self‑disclosure of criminal history. Requires physical, visual, and auditory ability to carry out assigned duties. Overtime is an aspect of employment, including scheduled, unscheduled, or last‑minute overtime, evenings, weekends, and a 24‑hour on‑call capacity. #J-18808-Ljbffr State of Illinois
