Employee Benefits Advisor Development Manager Location: Irvine, CA Schedule: Hybrid A highly respected independent insurance agency is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits professional to support the development of emerging Benefits Advisors in Southern California. This is not a traditional producer role and does not carry a personal production goal. It is a hands-on advisor development and technical strategy position focused on helping newer Benefits Advisors build the knowledge, confidence, and discipline needed to succeed in the Employee Benefits marketplace. The ideal candidate will bring strong Employee Benefits market knowledge, carrier strategy experience, and a genuine interest in coaching and mentoring others. This person will work closely with newer Advisors as they move through real client opportunities, helping them understand market positioning, proposal strategy, carrier selection, client recommendations, onboarding, and transition to service. What You’ll Do Advisor Development & Coaching Mentor and develop emerging Employee Benefits Advisors during onboarding, validation, and ramp-up Provide hands-on coaching through real new business opportunities Help Advisors build confidence in Employee Benefits markets, carrier strategy, proposal development, and client solution design Lead regular check-ins, provide feedback, and support individual development plans Identify knowledge gaps and create practical coaching moments to strengthen Advisor readiness Help develop or update training materials and educational resources as needed Market Strategy & New Business Support Partner with emerging Advisors to evaluate and position new business opportunities Guide carrier strategy, submissions, market selection, and proposal structure Help improve the quality of submissions, proposals, and overall deal strategy Support Advisors in structuring recommendations for prospective clients Participate in finalist meetings or key client conversations when appropriate Serve as a technical resource for market positioning, carrier appetite, funding arrangements, and competitive strategy Client Onboarding & Transition Support the onboarding and implementation of new clients secured through Advisor-led opportunities Help ensure a smooth transition from new business win to ongoing service Partner with service teams to make sure clients are set up properly and transitioned effectively Provide strategic support during complex onboarding or client transition conversations Carrier & Market Relationships Maintain strong working relationships with carrier and market partners Stay current on Employee Benefits market trends, carrier solutions, funding arrangements, and competitive positioning Provide market insight and feedback to Employee Benefits leadership Help strengthen carrier alignment and market strategy in Southern California Ideal Background This could be a strong fit for someone who has been successful in Employee Benefits and enjoys teaching, mentoring and helping others grow. Potential Backgrounds May Include Senior Employee Benefits Account Manager Employee Benefits Account Executive Large Group Account Manager Employee Benefits Consultant Employee Benefits Producer who no longer wants production pressure Employee Benefits Marketing Manager Senior Benefits Analyst Carrier placement or market strategy professional Carrier-side sales/relationship professional with strong brokerage or agency exposure Qualifications Strong Employee Benefits experience, ideally including marketing, carrier placement, client strategy, or related advisory work Strong understanding of carrier markets, funding arrangements, and placement strategies Experience supporting producers, advisors, or client-facing teams Experience mentoring, coaching, training, or developing others Ability to explain complex benefits concepts clearly and practically Strong communication skills with advisors, service teams, carriers, leadership, and clients Organized, collaborative, and comfortable tracking development progress and follow-through Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience What Makes This Role Unique This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys the strategic and technical side of Employee Benefits but wants to move away from a traditional book management or production-heavy role.
