Position Summary
The Procurement Manager is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing materials and equipment for utility-scale solar EPC projects. This role requires a strong engineering mindset to interpret technical specifications, ensure material compliance, and align procurement strategy with project execution timelines. The ideal candidate will manage vendor relationships, optimize cost and lead times, and support project teams with accurate and timely procurement.
Key Responsibilities Procurement & Sourcing- Lead procurement of major solar project components (modules, inverters, racking, transformers, BOS materials).
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on technical compliance, cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with project budgets and schedules.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to achieve cost savings and risk mitigation.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs to ensure procurement accuracy.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to validate material selections and identify value engineering opportunities.
- Ensure all purchased materials meet project specifications, codes, and standards.
- Support design optimization through supplier input and product alternatives.
- Partner with project managers to align procurement schedules with construction timelines.
- Track and manage long-lead items to prevent project delays.
- Maintain procurement schedules and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders.
- Support change order management related to materials and supply chain impacts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key manufacturers and distributors.
- Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
- Identify and qualify new suppliers to diversify and strengthen the supply chain.
- Manage logistics coordination in partnership with internal or third-party teams.
- Monitor material usage, inventory levels, and surplus management across projects.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through bulk purchasing, standardization, and strategic sourcing.
- Ensure accurate procurement documentation and cost tracking.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Construction Management, or related field.
- 5+ years of procurement experience in EPC, construction, or renewable energy projects.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience sourcing electrical and mechanical equipment for large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record managing supplier negotiations and lead times.
- Experience in utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects.
- Familiarity with EPC contracting structures and project lifecycle.
- Knowledge of key solar components and industry suppliers.
- ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
