Assistant Research Scientist for Jackson Lab (Part-Time)

New York University: NYU - NY: Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development: Office of Research: Researchers_CSD Location New York, NY Open Date Aug 20, 2026 Description The Jackson Lab is seeking a part-time Assistant Research Scientist to support research by designing experiments, transcribing speech samples, analyzing data, and contributing to research dissemination and writing. The Jackson Lab studies the mechanisms that underlie stuttering, with a particular focus on why stuttering varies across moments and contexts and how cognitive, social, and neural processes influence speech production. We use behavioral methods, neuroimaging, and novel interventions—including neuromodulation and pharmacological approaches to translate basic science into more effective, person-centered treatments. Position summary: To support the day-to-day execution of research in the Jackson Lab, including studies examining speech, stuttering, cognition, and brain function. The position exists to facilitate efficient participant recruitment and study coordination, high-quality data collection and management, and timely processing and analysis of behavioral, speech, and neuroimaging data. Coordinate and conduct research activities (35%) , including scheduling and communicating with participants, preparing study materials, administering research protocols and behavioral assessments, and assisting with data collection; manage and analyze research data (35%) , including organizing databases, processing and coding speech/behavioral data, performing quality-control procedures, and assisting with quantitative analyses; support participant recruitment and regulatory/study documentation (15%) , including screening and tracking potential participants and maintaining accurate study records; and support general laboratory operations (15%) , including preparing materials, coordinating with research staff, training or supervising student research assistants as appropriate, and contributing to manuscripts, presentations, and other research products. Qualifications MS in Speech Language Pathology preferred.
