CADD Designer

Hours: Full-Time 35 Hours Work Location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101 Only candidates who are permanent in the Engineering Technician title, who are reachable on the Open-Competitive List (Exam #2040 or Exam #5068) may apply. The Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure is currently seeking a CADD Designer to join our Construction Management Unit – Construction Support - AS-BUILTS Team. Under the guidance of an Engineer-in-Charge, the successful candidate will prepare as-built drawings and working drawings, utilizing specifications and final estimates for roadway, sewer, and water main projects. The selected candidate may require participating in field surveys; engage in engineering investigations and studies; attend meetings; and prepare calculations and reports. Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position. Minimum Qualifications Qualification Requirements For Assignment Levels I – II A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and two years of full-time satisfactory experience as an engineering technician; or An Associate degree from an accredited college or technical institution with a specialization in engineering technology; or A combination of education and experience which is equivalent to two years of satisfactory experience. To determine educational equivalency for experience, see “Special Note” below. Special Note One year of experience credit will be given for each 30 semester credits for college education leading to a degree from an accredited college in engineering technology. However, all candidates must have at least a high school diploma or its educational equivalent. License Requirement For Certain Positions For assignment to certain positions, the candidate must possess at the time of appointment or assignment a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment. Additional Qualification Requirements For Assignment Levels III – IV At least one year of satisfactory service as an Engineering Technician with the City of New York; or A Baccalaureate degree in engineering technology from an accredited college; or After meeting the minimum requirements described for Assignment Level I, at least two additional years of full-time satisfactory experience performing engineering technician work; or A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to Additional Qualification Requirement “3” above and in “Special Note” above. Preferred Skills Outstanding verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure work (i.e., roadway, sewer, and/or water main) Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred) Valid driver's license (required) Personal vehicle (preferred) 55a Program This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program.
