Banquet Set-Up Attendant

The Fort Piqua Plaza Banquet Center is seeking Banquet Set-Up Attendants to join our team! Located on the fourth floor of the beautifully restored Fort Piqua Plaza Hotel in the heart of downtown Piqua, Ohio, our state-of-the-art venue features six unique event spaces and hosts a wide range of special occasionsfrom elegant weddings to intimate celebrations and corporate events.

We are looking for dependable, detail-oriented Banquet Set-Up Attendants who thrive in a fast-paced environment and take pride in preparing event spaces to meet high standards. The ideal candidate brings a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to efficiently set up and break down rooms to ensure each event runs smoothly.

Job purpose: Responsible for preparing banquet space for all banquet functions in a timely, friendly and efficient manner in the Club's continuing effort to deliver outstanding Member and Guest service.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Greet and interact with Members and guests in a warm and friendly manner.
• Set tables, chairs, audio visual equipment, and other items according to specifications of the event.
• Set tables with silverware, glassware and decorations.
• Check and adjust lighting as needed
• Obtain linen and drape tables.
• Set up events' food and beverage stations
• Cleans, stores and secures in an organized manner all tables, chairs, and audio-visual equipment, platforms/stages and other equipment for banquet functions.
• Vacuum carpet / rugs.
• Complete opening and closing procedures as well as side-work.
• Maintain neat and organized work area to include adhering to sanitation standards according to state law and health codes.
• Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Have reliable personal transportation to and from work
• 1+ year of relevant experience preferred

Working conditions: Work is primarily indoors and outdoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or being exposed to flying golf balls.

Physical requirements: Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitor and develop subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas and write and read member communication.

Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift to 50 lbs., up to 30 lbs. frequently. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. Ability to consistently lift, carry and load equipment that may weigh 30 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.

Use the following safety precautions when using an 8ft. ladder:

• Correct placement of the ladder. The safest angle for a straight ladder is to ensure it is placed on-fourth the distance from the base to the point of support. "A" frame ladders naturally comply.
• Ensure the ladder is placed on a firm level surface, and do not place the ladder near a doorway.
• Ensure there are non-skid shoes on the ladder.
• If using a metal ladder, be sure that it is not near electrical wires.
• One person on a ladder at one time, and ensure another staff member is holding the ladder in position.
• Never overreach.
