Geotechnical Engineer - Tuscaloosa, AL; Birmingham, AL; Huntsville, AL

TTL, Inc. has a need for a full-time, experienced Geotechnical Engineer. This role will work as a project manager on a variety of project types, including testing of soils and materials for estimation of the adequacy and strength of building foundations, retaining structures, bridges and culverts. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer with progressive engineering consulting experience.

Responsibilities :

• Manage geotechnical projects from proposal through completion, including project scope, cost estimating, scheduling, budgeting, invoicing, contracts and safety planning
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with client requirements and company standards
• Oversee field technicians and project activities to support efficient execution
• Identify geotechnical engineering issues and develop effective solutions through design calculations, engineering evaluations, slope stability analysis and construction plans
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings and topographical and geological data to evaluate project feasibility and support the planning and design 
• Prepare and review geotechnical reports, technical proposals and project scopes

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s in civil engineering specializing in geotechnical engineering, Master’s preferred
• 5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
• 5+ years of progressive project management experience
• Experience with expansive soils, soft soils, shallow and deep foundations, design of retaining walls, soil laboratory testing and field experience related to earthwork activities
• Alabama P.E. license, or ability to obtain within six months
• Effective communication and organizational skills
