Manager Trainee

Manager Trainee Location: Moreno Valley, California, United States. Job Summary Under general supervision, this position is responsible for learning the management of a small driver count and/or non‑traditional shifts (including nights and weekends), ensuring safe and timely movement of freight, load assignment, and providing best‑in‑class customer service. The role is trained to ensure compliance with DOT regulations, manage driver compliance and company regulations, and coordinate planning, routing, monitoring, and delivery of freight and loads. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to ensure seamless new carrier set‑up, minimize turnover, and maximize productivity. Fill in for absent personnel and participate in special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and profitability. Utilize personnel management, including training and orientation of drivers and other employees, and assist with internal and third‑party systems. Maximize fleet operations efficiency and profitability, measure key performance indicators, and create, maintain, and present customer‑specific reporting and financial analysis. Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and driver assignments to balance equipment in the market. Perform administrative duties such as payroll, Net‑Revenue budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, documentation, pay issue resolution, P&L analysis, invoicing, and financial reporting. Manage yard operations, including equipment inspection, part replacement, and coordinating repairs and preventive maintenance. Resolve service issues, routing, mechanical problems, and accessorial pay issues with drivers, customers, and company personnel. Maintain the company safety culture through daily safety messages, monthly briefings, quarterly training, annual reviews, and enforcing DOT compliance. Assign loads, plan routes, monitor freight movement, and manage exceptions to ensure safe, on‑time service. Qualifications Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field; or High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of management, transportation/logistics, or related experience. Willing to travel, work nights/weekends, and relocate regionally if needed. Preferred: Experience managing a team, conflict resolution, analytical judgment, adaptability, relationship management, service orientation, communication skills, and problem‑solving ability. Compensation Base salary range: $46,200 – $69,300. Eligibility for annual bonuses and incentives based on profitability or volumes. No employment‑based sponsorship.
