About the Opportunity

A large international law firm is seeking a Conflicts & Compliance Analyst to support new hire due diligence, conflicts analysis, client intake, and compliance activities across North America. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional who enjoys research, risk analysis, and collaborating with attorneys, HR, and business teams in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in evaluating potential conflicts of interest, supporting attorney onboarding, assisting with anti-money laundering (AML) compliance, and ensuring adherence to professional responsibility requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Lateral Hire & Attorney Onboarding Support

• Perform confidential conflicts and compliance reviews for attorney and professional staff candidates.
• Analyze candidate disclosures, client lists, and matter histories.
• Conduct conflicts searches and summarize findings for firm leadership and risk teams.
• Research corporate relationships and ownership structures to support conflicts analysis.
• Track candidate status and maintain accurate records in the firm's conflicts and intake systems.
• Coordinate with HR, recruiting, risk, and business teams throughout the onboarding process.
• Assist with ethical walls, information barriers, and matter access restrictions.
• Provide onboarding support and training related to conflicts procedures and intake processes.

Conflicts & New Business Intake

• Review conflict check requests and matter-opening submissions.
• Conduct conflicts searches and analyze potential issues involving current and former clients.
• Research corporate family structures and related entities.
• Communicate with attorneys and stakeholders to obtain necessary information.
• Escalate complex conflicts issues with clear analysis and recommendations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails within firm systems.
• Support high-volume matter intake and prioritization efforts.

Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Compliance

• Conduct client due diligence and Know Your Customer (KYC) research.
• Verify client identities and ownership structures.
• Research politically exposed persons (PEPs), sanctions risks, and high-risk entities.
• Assist with risk assessments and compliance reviews.
• Maintain AML documentation and compliance records.
• Support ongoing client monitoring and periodic reviews.

Additional Projects

• Assist with marketing and business development conflicts reviews.
• Support special projects and departmental initiatives.
• Provide coverage for team workflows and shared inbox management as needed.

Qualifications

Required

• College degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Experience in legal conflicts, compliance, risk management, legal intake, or a related legal operations role.
• Strong understanding of attorney conflicts of interest and professional responsibility principles.
• Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred

• Experience with conflicts management software, particularly Intapp or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of AML, KYC, sanctions, and regulatory compliance processes.
• J.D., paralegal certificate, or other legal training.
• Prior law firm experience.
