Job Summary:
A registered nurse (RN) specializing in Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) placement in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized care in a Med Surg Intermediate Care unit requiring ventilator and trach experience. Candidates are required to bring their Wisconsin RN license on the first day. The position begins on 07/06/2026, with a 13-week contract, and candidates should be prepared to work 12-hour days.

Job Details:

• Location: Wausau, WI
• Position: RN - Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)
• Schedule: 12-hour days, 7a-7:30p, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: WI RN License, BLS, ACLS (AHA or ARC), at least 2 years of experience in stepdown, intermediate, or PCU units; ICU experience preferred. Ventilator and trach experience are required. At least one prior travel assignment is required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors Degree preferred, Epic and Cerner EMR experience desirable, trauma level II experience, teaching hospital experience, trauma level experience is a bonus.
• Additional Information: Contract length of 13 weeks, with the contract ending on Sunday. The unit has 36 beds, is a heavy tele unit, and manages stable, weaning ventilator/trach patients, sepsis, trauma, alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy, chest tubes, TBI, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, and stroke patients.
• Float: All inpatient units, as needed, with possible float to higher acuity units.
• Holiday and Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend and every other holiday.
• Vaccinations: Flu and COVID vaccinations are required; masks are mandatory if vaccines are declined during flu season.
• Other Notes: The position requires a resilient, fast-paced worker capable of managing change independently and completing tasks timely. No call or on-call responsibilities are associated with this role.
