Job Summary The Multi‐modality Sonographer performs basic to advanced ultrasound services, including abdominal, Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, and small parts examinations. The role evaluates a patient's clinical history to define the purpose of the examination, frames the clinical questions the study should answer, and expands the scope as needed. Essential Functions of the Role Perform multiple modality ultrasound procedures using various equipment and techniques, making necessary measurements for accurate, high‐quality results. Identify and define abnormalities specific to each procedure, extending the examination scope appropriately and deviating from standard techniques when necessary; correlate other diagnostic test results with anatomy and function. Assist physicians in procedure and operating rooms by performing ultrasound studies, aiding in complex procedures to reduce risk factors. Prepare patients for procedures, obtain clinical history, physical findings, and lab data, fit imaging techniques for comprehensive exams to avoid errors, explain the purpose of the ultrasound examination, and answer patient questions. Record statistics and perform daily maintenance of the ultrasound lab and its equipment, reporting all malfunctions as appropriate. Act as a resource to other staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies to optimize patient care. Work closely with the ultrasound team to ensure quality processes and adherence to protocols; assist with unit or organization accreditation activities as delegated. Implement protocols when new technology evolves and ensure adherence to system standards. Assure operation of equipment by performing quality checks following manufacturer's recommendations and troubleshooting equipment as required. Key Success Factors Familiarity with approved clinical protocols for each type of ultrasound examination performed. Meeting all qualifications for any two of the following modalities: Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, or small parts. Work a minimum of 25% of the time in the second modality. Pediatric and adult scopes are studied as separate specialties by certification. Knowledge and ability to apply complex sonographic methods, instrumentation, and techniques. Knowledge of relevant anatomy and physiology for each specialty. Knowledge of proper infection control, including precautionary procedures. Knowledge of relevant laws regarding patient confidentiality and privacy. Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with healthcare providers, including other sonographers, physicians, and nurses. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification. Experience: 2 years of relevant experience. Certification / License / Registration Basic Life Support (BLS) – BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer. Must have two of the following certifications: Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS), ARRT‐S Sonography (ARRT‐S), ARRT‐VI Interventional Radiology (ARRT‐VI), Musculoskeletal Sonography (MSK), Reg Congenital Cardiac Sono (RCCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Pediatric Echocardiography (PE), Reg Diag Med Sono‐Abdomen (AB), Reg Diag Med Sono‐Breast (BR), RDMS Fetal Echocardiography (RDMS‐FE), Reg Diag Med Sono‐OB/GYN (OB), RDMS‐Pediatric Sonography (PS), Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS), Registered Vascular Tech (RVT). #J-18808-Ljbffr
