The Anesthesia Program Manager works with the Sound anesthesiologist and CRNA team at the assigned hospital(s) and/or system partner on a daily basis, consisting of a Program Medical Director, Chief CRNA, and in some situations, an Anesthesia Coordinator. This role contributes to a larger regional team that supports anesthesia programs across multiple states. The Regional Program Manager (RPM) will support and report to the Regional Director of Operations (RDO) or Regional VP of Operations (RVP), with triad accountability to the Program Medical Director (PMD) and Chief CRNA. 

 

About the Role

The Regional Program Manager is responsible for, but not limited to, the on-site operational management and oversight of assigned Sound Physicians anesthesia program(s). The Regional Program Manager, in partnership with the Program Medical Director and/or Chief CRNA, may be the primary point of contact with the hospital, as assigned and directed by the RDO, or RVP, working directly with the C-suite, other key leaders and support staff to manage anesthesia operations, quality, safety, patient experience, provider well-being, and provider/provider group performance. The Regional Program Manager will have a visible presence at the assigned hospitals and/or systems and will focus on establishing professional relationships with the anesthesia team, hospital C-suite executives, and surgeons (as accessible).  

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Client Retention and Performance Management:

• Build and maintain relationships with leaders and key stakeholders at partner sites/systems
• Support the Regional Director of Operations with site specific data collection to meet Sound’s performance objectives and other process improvement efforts. Performance objectives are established in cooperation with our hospital partners in alignment with their goals. 
• Manage to defined performance objectives by working with various Sound’s Central Services departments, as well as our hospital partners, operational and clinical leadership, and clinical teams to create operational plans, reports, and dashboards. 
• Meet regularly with the Regional Director of Operations, Program Medical Directors and/or Chief CRNAs to review site performance, identify opportunities and barriers, and develop action plans. 
• Collaborate with the Regional Director of Operations, Program Medical Directors and/or Chief CRNAs to contribute to team meeting agendas. 
• Assist with the evaluation and improvement of clinical pathways, including working to reduce variation and non-value-added activity. 
• Identify and problem solve day-to-day site operations issues including matters related to payroll, credentialing, human resources, recruiting, etc. with assistance of Sound’s Central Services departments. 
• Review and maintain productivity and quality metrics, watching for trends and notifying operational leadership of impactful variances.

 

Financial Operations:

• Review, verify and process invoice data, including quality, at-risk and bonus components. Proactively partner with Accounts Receivable to ensure invoicing issues/credits are resolved.
• Review Physician incentives/bonuses and process for timely payment.
• Review and validate shift and productivity data for appropriate processing by payroll.

 

Staffing Management:

• Put clinician staffing requests into Salesforce and approve other Employment Agreement changes.
• Ensure coordination and facilitation of anesthesiologists and anesthetists onboarding/orientation requirements, training, and utilization of Sound Connect for Anesthesia.
• Support Regional Medical Director, Chief CRNA, and Regional Program Manager or Regional Director of Operations in tracking provider shifts and temporary labor costs.
• Coordinate onsite physician interviews with hospital leadership and follows up on hiring recommendations.  

 

Team Management and Development:

• Lead and develop any direct reports (Anesthesia Coordinators)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency (i.e. Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of relevant state and federal healthcare regulations
• Basic understanding of financial and budgeting processes/principles.
• Intermediate knowledge of healthcare informatics, including quality measures.

 

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in business administration, healthcare administration or similar related field of study. Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Health Administration (MHA) preferred
• 3-5 years' experience working in healthcare operations. Experience managing an anesthesia physician group practice, preferred.
• Experience leading/managing teams or processes.
• Experience working in a matrixed organization

 

Salary Range

• $70,000 - $80,000 annually. Exact pay will be determined based on candidate experience, geographical location, and size/complexity of the program being supported .
