Heavy Equipment Operator

This role involves operating excavators and GPS-equipped bulldozers on large civil construction projects, with a strong focus on safety, equipment care, and accurate execution of earthwork tasks. The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy equipment operation within the civil construction industry and is comfortable working on ponds, dirt work, and other large-scale site development activities.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, GPS bulldozers, and front-end loaders safely and efficiently on large civil construction projects.
• Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on excavators, dozers, and front-end loaders to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Follow site plans and grade specifications accurately using GPS systems and other guidance tools.
• Understand, interpret, and efficiently carry out instructions from supervisors and project leads.
• Complete earthwork tasks including pond construction, dirt work, grading, and site preparation in line with project requirements.
• Monitor equipment performance and promptly report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area around heavy equipment and project sites.
• Adhere strictly to OSHA safety standards and all site-specific safety protocols.
• Participate in required drug and alcohol testing and comply with all safety and compliance policies.
• Collaborate with other crew members and trades to support smooth project operations and meet project timelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hattiesburg, MS.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
