How This Role Impacts Live Oak And Its People
The Senior Managing Director, Financial Crimes Risk Management serves as Live Oak’s enterprise leader for financial crimes strategy, governance, and program effectiveness. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, this role provides independent oversight of fraud, BSA/AML, OFAC/sanctions, customer due diligence, and related financial crimes risks to support regulatory compliance, responsible growth, and alignment with the Bank’s risk appetite. As the Bank’s designated BSA Officer, this leader is accountable for maintaining an effective, risk-based BSA/AML compliance program; advising executive leadership and governance committees; and engaging with regulators, auditors, law enforcement, and industry partners. The role also partners closely with business and operational leaders to provide effective challenge, practical guidance, and forward-looking insight as the Bank evolves its products, services, technology, and partnerships.
What You’ll Do At Live Oak
- Set and execute the strategic vision, priorities, and roadmap for the Financial Crimes Program.
- Lead and develop Financial Crimes leaders and teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
- Oversee the continued maturity of the Financial Crimes Risk Management Framework, ensuring it remains scaled to the Bank's size, complexity, growth strategy, and risk appetite.
- Ensure financial crimes risks associated with new products, services, technologies, customer segments, third-party relationships, and strategic initiatives are identified, assessed, escalated, and addressed through established governance processes.
- Represent Financial Crimes in governance committees, regulatory examinations, audits, and enterprise initiatives, while maintaining effective relationships with regulators, auditors, law enforcement, and industry partners.
- Promote effective use of technology, analytics, reporting, and third-party solutions to strengthen financial crimes risk management and program effectiveness.
- Provide clear reporting and insights to executive leadership, governance committees, and the Board on key risks, program effectiveness, emerging threats, trends, and remediation activities.
- Serve as the Bank's designated BSA Officer and oversee the effectiveness of the BSA/AML compliance program, including governance, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting, customer due diligence, and related regulatory obligations.
- Oversee the Bank's OFAC and sanctions compliance program, including sanctions governance, screening processes, regulatory developments, and emerging sanctions-related risks.
- Provide strategic oversight of the Fraud Risk Management Program, including governance, first-line fraud control effectiveness, monitoring activities, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Partner with Fraud leadership and other stakeholders to identify emerging threats, significant trends, control weaknesses, and opportunities to strengthen prevention and detection capabilities.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in financial crimes, BSA/AML, fraud risk management, sanctions compliance, risk management, or related disciplines within financial services.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams, leaders, or multiple functional areas.
- Experience operating within a three-lines-of-defense risk management framework and partnering across business, risk, compliance, legal, audit, and technology stakeholders.
- Experience interacting with regulators, auditors, executive leadership, governance committees, and Board-level stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of BSA, AML, OFAC, USA PATRIOT Act, FinCEN requirements, customer due diligence expectations, federal banking regulations, and enforcement trends.
- Experience overseeing financial crimes programs, governance processes, risk assessments, issue remediation, technology platforms, monitoring systems, reporting tools, data analytics, and regulatory examinations.
- Working knowledge of digital banking, fintech partnerships, payments, commercial banking, specialty lending, or other innovative financial services models.

- CAMS, CFE, CRCM, CFCS, or similar industry certifications.

- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and executive communication skills.
- Microsoft Office Suite competency, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with AI use cases, applications, and prompt or skill construction.

The base pay range for this position is $221,020.00 - $292,980.00 per year. Compensation may also include annual bonuses and long-term incentives, subject to various metrics and company policy. A candidate’s salary is determined by several factors including travel, relevant work experience or skills and expertise.
