Associate Pastor

The Associate Pastor will spiritually shepherd the congregation at the Crossroads Campus with the goal of advancing the AL mission of "seeing lives changed by Jesus." In this role, the Associate Pastor will report to the Crossroads Campus Pastor and will oversee ministry, events, and relationships as required by the Campus Pastor.

Personal Expectations

• Abide daily in Christ (John 15:5)
• Live for the mission and vision of Abundant Life as found in God's word (Matt 22:36-40; 1 Peter 5:1-4)
• Participate in an Abundant Life group (Acts 2:41-42)
• Participate in the discipleship ministry by completing D1 (Matthew 28:18-20)
• Live in a way that glorifies God and aligns with the staff core values (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9)
• Participate in evangelism training (Eph. 4:12) & giving to the needs of the saints (2 Corinthians 8:1-7 & 9:12)
• Become a member of Abundant Life Church

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care in terms of building trust with the congregation through emotional and spiritual support during their time of need, working closely with the campus pastor and other support ministries to fully care for members at their time of need and beyond.
• Participate and/or oversee various ministry activities on Sunday mornings as-needed or at the request of the Campus Pastor.
• Mentor key campus leaders across multiple ministries.
• Provide pastoral care to shepherd the church body at church gatherings and through discipleship and counseling.
• Interact with the church body from the stage through announcements, closing services, etc.
• Attend weekly Crossroads staff meetings.
• Attend bi-weekly AL staff-wide Team Trainings (at Lee's Summit).
• Other duties as reasonably assigned**.

• Develop and implement necessary communication channels and processes to ensure needs are known and addressed, to include fully communicating to and through emails, texts, phone calls, mail and any other means necessary to show care and compassion to our body.
• Organizational Skills - Proficiency in managing, planning, scheduling, documenting, and follow-up.
• Counselling - Expertise in providing spiritual guidance.
• Interpersonal Communication - Expertise in building relationships and understanding the needs of others.
• Conflict Resolution - Ability to identify and address disagreements between people.
• Administration - Knowledge of church operations and policies.
• Resource Management - Expertise in managing resources to support the vision of Abundant Life and the various ministries.

Soft Skills

• Emotional Intelligence - Ability to understand, interpret, and respond to people's emotions in a supportive and compassionate way.
• Conflict Resolution - Capacity to recognize, analyze, and address conflicts in a respectful and constructive manner.
• Listening Skills - Proficiency in being attentive and understanding verbal and non-verbal cues.
• Empathy - Ability to put oneself in another's shoes, feel their emotions and show understanding.
• Counseling - Expertise in guiding and advising our church family through difficult issues or decisions.

• Leadership - Capacity to guide and motivate congregations to act and achieve goals.

Experience (minimum requirement)

• Three to five years of experience in a Pastoral role.
