About the Position:

Our Lead Mechanics perform repairs and standard maintenance on our diesel and non-diesel fleet equipment used for waste collection services. They have high proficiency in maintaining vehicle components. This includes but is not limited to air brake systems, hydraulic systems, chassis components, electrical and control systems, HVAC components, general engine tasks, drive train, suspension and steering systems. Along with our drivers, our Mechanics serve and support our community by making sure the drivers run their routes with the utmost efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks
• Valid Driver’s License

* Legally eligible to work in the United States

* Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities:

• Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing diesel vehicles, ensuring they meet safety and DOT inspection standards.
• Diagnosing mechanical issues and performing preventative maintenance on engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic systems, and electrical components using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and shop equipment to complete repairs and maintenance.
• Completing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake replacements, tire repairs, and hydraulic system maintenance. Check, fill, and/or change appropriate fluids/filters.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records on computer/tablet and completing repair work orders to ensure prompt and efficient service to keep our drivers on the road.
• Perform basic tire work, such as replacement, tire rotation, and tread depth checks
• Be able to estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Weld equipment as needed
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns and perform roadside repairs, if needed.
• Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Perform routine housekeeping duties related to tools, materials, shop, and work areas
• Interact professionally with internal and external customers/fellow employees with good written and verbal communication skills
• Perform other duties as assigned

Additional Working Aspects:

• Ability to work Mon-Fri beginning at 5am
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• This position operates in both shop/inside conditions well as outside conditions that may include inclement weather, heat and humidity.
• May be subject to tight spaces and high traffic areas
• Ability to lift and carry approximately 80 pounds
• Ability to sit, stand, slouch or lie for extended periods
• Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and heavy equipment
• Ability to hold air impact tools up to 30 pounds
