About the Role
Join Leidos as a Mechanical Engineer III and be part of a high-impact engineering team designing, analyzing, and refining advanced mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for the Defense sector. In this hybrid role, you'll leverage your CAD expertise to develop innovative solutions, collaborate with senior engineers, and play a pivotal part in advancing mission-critical projects. This is a temporary, contract-based opportunity offering a flexible blend of onsite and virtual work.

Responsibilities

- Drive static and dynamic design, analysis, and evaluation of mechanical systems, equipment, and assemblies.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks and Leidos drawing templates based on prototypes, sketches, and photographs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and comprehensive testing for new and modified designs.
- Guide and support drafting personnel in preparing formal documentation.
- Ensure precision through application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, drafters, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality results within project timelines.
- Recommend and implement improvements to design processes and documentation standards.

Required Skills and Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 6+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD), with hands-on SolidWorks experience preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise with GD&T and mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Strong skills in creating formal engineering drawings for mechanical parts, cables, connectors, and electrical circuit card assemblies.
- U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Skills

- Previous experience working with defense industry or complex technical projects.
- Familiarity with Leidos processes and drawing standards.
- Security clearance (not required but preferred).
