Sales Representative

We're a small luxury jewelry company looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, is naturally organized, and likes being part of a team. This is primarily an office-based position with regular travel throughout the year. In the office, you’ll help deliver the exceptional service our customers have come to expect while supporting many aspects of our business. When you travel, you’ll visit fine jewelry stores across the country, introduce our newest collections, share product knowledge with store teams, and build lasting relationships with our retail partners. Jewelry experience isn’t required—we’ll teach you everything you need to know about our collections. Duties After gaining some experience, the sales representative will travel domestically to conduct trunk shows in stores. These trunk shows are planned months in advance. Most are conducted in the spring or late autumn. Trips last from three to five days. Some training is required as insurance requirements call for a certain level of experience before travel with high value goods is allowed. ELJ asks its staff members to work in our Boyce store two weekend days a month. (These days do not have to be consecutive and are compensated at a higher pay rate.) ELJ is not a “hard sell” operation. We don’t make outbound calls. Calls come from the sales associates in our partner stores as well as individual private customers who want advice or have seen an advertisement. Usually, the caller has a general view of what he or she wants. The ELJ staff member guides these callers through to the purchase process. Clerical - daily tasks include: Jewelry must be shipped according to strict rules to conform with insurance requirements. Tracking receivables. Responding to E-mails and phone calls in a timely and courteous manner. Other: Marketing materials need to be written. The ELJ online site needs to be kept up-to-date with jewelry descriptions and pictures. Qualifications Good verbal skills (phone and in-person) Good written communication skills (mostly for e-mails) Detail-oriented (errors can cause huge problems) Computer skills (Word, Excel, and ideally experience with FileMaker) Analytical skills (good/comfortable with numbers) Accounting/bookkeeping skills helpful but not required.
