About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Charleston, West Virginia, 25309!

Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of critical care experience License: Current RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: ICU experience, travel experience required, no travel duos Description: Unit has 18 beds, expanding to 27 beds by mid-2023. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 nurse to 2 patients, occasionally 3 patients during overflow or step-down care. Common patient diagnoses include critically ill patients with complex needs, sepsis, acute myocardial infarction, renal patients, post-vascular procedures, strokes, transient ischemic attacks, and seizures. Experience with care for patients with lumbar drains, ARDS, and critical drip titration is required. Age population served ranges from adolescent to geriatric. Ability to titrate medications such as Levophed, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, and Insulin is essential. Charge nurse duties are performed primarily without patients. Hospitalist is available 24/7, while intensivist services are variable. Respiratory therapy services are available as needed. No monitor technician is present; RNs are to read telemetry strips. Shifts are from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM or 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. Weekend requirements are every other weekend, and holiday shifts rotate among core staff. Floating to step-down, med-surg, or telemetry is required based on patient needs. Scrubs must be solid navy for RNs, and solid dark grey for C.N.As. Solid color fleece zip-ups in specified colors may be worn. Dress code includes closed-toe shoes; no crocs are permitted. Orientation consists of general hospital introduction followed by a full day of nursing orientation. An abbreviated initial skills checklist is due 90 days from the start date.
