The 24‑hour Emergency Department has 5 fully equipped rooms, 4 operating rooms, 4 cardiac catheterization labs with an electrophysiology room, 11 day‑surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms. Participates in direct care about 75% of the time, with the remaining 25% involving managerial tasks. Collaborates with other staff in sharing resources, and assists in cross‑functional training. Assumes the leader role in the hospital during the shift. Minimum Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited nursing program Minimum of 3 years continuous clinical experience in a critical/acute care setting, with at least 2 years of recent management experience preferred Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Texas Your Essential Job Functions Patient Care Actively participate in administering patient care and managing related services Coordinate the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients in collaboration with other team leaders; ensure appropriate patient status is documented Assist families and patients in teaching skills necessary for successful post‑discharge care Ensure patient equipment and supplies are available and in operating condition Perform clinical quality improvement activities such as patient and physician satisfaction and staff satisfaction surveying; identify and implement corrective actions when necessary Possess knowledge of growth and development of appropriate patient populations Maintain responsibility for professional growth and development Staff/Unit Responsibilities Delegate appropriately to non‑licensed staff in keeping with job descriptions, license requirements, and standards of practice Participate in peer review Participate in developing other staff and affiliating students Maintain and develop own professional competencies Maintain and promote a team spirit through active cooperation and collaboration Assist in interdepartmental service coordination Actively participate in Performance Improvement and Utilization Review programs Assume a leader role in the maintenance of the patient‑focused care delivery system Assist in directing and guiding staff in the coordination of unit operations Assist in all aspects of care, including dietary, housekeeping, infection control, supply, and equipment management Attend 80% of in‑services and departmental meetings Provide staff to other areas of the hospital when needed Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers; be effective in interacting with others and solving problems Proactively meet customer needs; respond promptly to customer requests Keep directors informed of problems and recommend solutions Participate in education and development of peers and other staff Shift: PRN LHSH Incentives Flexible Scheduling No mandatory floating or overtime Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
