Summary Employs radiologic sciences technology to perform a variety of patient care, technical, and diagnostic tasks targeted to the care of patients with cardiovascular disease. Major tasks include ultrasound imaging, patient preparation and post‑procedure care, procedure room set‑up and cleaning, technical reporting, and quality monitoring. Responsibilities Deliver pre‑procedure and post‑procedure patient care, including patient assessment and emergency cardiac care (CPR required). May assist with post‑procedure transport. Ensure equipment is calibrated and properly maintained daily. Perform and record all equipment maintenance and quality assurance monitoring, troubleshoot issues, and report to supervisor or biomedical engineering. Generate ultrasound images of the heart and/or vascular structures. Perform advanced cardiac ultrasound studies for patients with complex conditions and routinely conduct multiple study types with varied anatomical areas. Perform vascular studies and real‑time readings/reports in the operating room for invasive and non‑invasive vascular procedures. Perform studies for inpatient neonatal/NICU and pediatric patients. Provide staff training and education. Serve as a subject matter expert and resource to Cardiovascular Sonographers. Monitor and record patient information, maintain report storage, and data systems. Compile and enter data for charge entry and prepare reports. Retrieve stored information from the automated storage system. Prepare procedure rooms and equipment for daily use, ensuring timely and efficient room preparation between procedures. Respond independently to on‑call needs for emergent procedures. Education Requirements Associate’s degree in Sonography, Radiology, or a related field within 3 months of hire, OR completion of a twelve‑month ultrasound program within 3 months of hire. Licensure/Certification Requirements Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or registry‑eligible and become registered within one year from date of hire. Must maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually. Professional Experience Requirements One year minimum experience in an acute hospital setting.
