Software Engineer (Nextest, San Jose)

Opportunity Overview Nextest is looking for software engineers who will work on a dynamic, customer-driven, global team. Engineers will define, implement, and test new features, collaborate with cross-functional groups, and support both new product development and existing product maintenance. Responsibilities Understand customer requirements and integrate them into the existing software architecture. Learn from senior engineers and contribute ideas to advance Teradyne technology. Collaborate with senior team members to design and develop programs and libraries for new products. Assist with sustaining and extending programs and libraries for existing products. Engage with the Field Applications team to improve customer success and solve problems. Work with the Software QA group to devise test strategies to improve and resolve issues in internal and customer-facing releases. Qualifications Computer Science degree with 3‑7+ years of experience. Expert knowledge of C++ and strong object-oriented design experience. Mastery of software that directly interacts with hardware (FPGAs, ASICs). Knowledge of Windows and experience with Visual Studio. Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio IDE and the STL library. Proficiency with a source code control system (Git preferred). Experience interacting with hardware designers, reading schematics, and implementing hardware-directed software. Experience developing for embedded systems, microcontrollers, or small-form-factor devices (e.g., Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone, Arduino). Experience developing Windows device drivers (KMDF). Deep knowledge of Windows OS internals. Proven track record of delivering products directly to customers. Instrument design/control experience. ATE experience. Compensation Base salary range: $169,800 – $271,800. The exact amount will reflect experience and skill set and may vary by location.
