Location 1213 GARFIELD AVE,Harlan, IA, 51537-2071,United States Job Category Non-Clinical Employee Type Non-Exempt Full-time Manage Others Yes Contact information Description SCHEDULE: Full-time; 40 hours per week; Monday - Friday The Health Information Management Manager plans, supervises and coordinates the daily activities of the Department of Health Information Services in accordance with professional ethics and the rules and regulations of the State and Federal government in order to provide timely and quality services to Administration, Medical Staff, patients, families and other organizations associated with this health care system. Primary Functions include clerical, chart completion, coding, monitoring and auditing and release of information, while at the same time supervising the department. Collaborates with and provides back up to the HIPAA Privacy Officer. Requirements Must be a registered RHIT, RHIA or currently enrolled in an RHIT/RHIA program with record experience. At least two years of experience in a medical record department preferred. Must have full knowledge of ICD and CPT coding system and State and Federal rules and regulations as they pertain to medical records. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals required. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence required. Ability to speak effectively with patients, physicians, visitors, customers and fellow team members required. Summary Responsible for the review, interpretation, coding and abstracting of medical record information according to standard and current classification systems. Identify and apply appropriate diagnoses, procedural, HCPCS and modifier codes to obtain accurate assignment for proper reimbursement and data collection in the inpatient and/or outpatient setting. Oversee the implementation of transcription, release of information, record processing services the Health Information Management Department provides to departments and facilities within the system while completing in a timely, efficient and effective manner. Monitor department operations and recommend policies and procedures to the Director of Revenue Cycle for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Perform and supervise personnel management functions such as hiring, training, scheduling, counseling, evaluating and terminating employees. Maintain effective inter and intra-departmental communications regarding Health Information Management Department operations and services. Note: This is a partial list of key job areas.
