Regular JOB SUMMARY The Workforce & Shareholder Development Liaison is responsible for coordinating workforce development initiatives in collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholder companies supporting the Donlin Gold mining project and other projects with potential job opportunities. This position serves as a key point of contact to ensure Shareholders are informed, prepared, hired, retained, and developed into skilled positions across all levels of the mining workforce, including operations, trades, technical, administrative, and professional roles. The incumbent supports alignment between workforce commitments, training pathways, and hiring needs across multiple organizations while maintaining strong relationships with Shareholders, partners, and training providers. This position routinely handles confidential and sensitive information and performs all work in compliance with Calista Corporation policies, and applicable federal and state laws. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Serve as the primary workforce development liaison between Calista Corporation and external stakeholders associated with the mining project.
- Coordinate and support workforce development planning efforts to align hiring needs, training opportunities, and project timelines.
- Promote Shareholder hire and development initiatives across Calista Corporation and partner organizations.
- Coordinate and support candidate intake processes, including workforce pool development, interest forms, and pre-employment pipeline tracking.
- Maintain and manage a database of prospective Shareholder and local hire candidates, including tracking engagement, interests, and readiness for training or employment.
- Assist Shareholders and Descendants in identifying and applying for employment, training, apprenticeship, and educational opportunities related to the mining workforce.
- Coordinate candidate progression from initial interest through training participation, certification completion, and transition into job-ready applicant pools.
- Support processes that ensure candidates are appropriately prepared before entering active hiring systems.
- Support the development and coordination of career pathways for Shareholders across operational, skilled trade, technical, and administrative roles.
- Develop and maintain relationships with training providers, community organizations, and workforce partners to identify and support new workforce development opportunities.
- Coordinate with training providers, apprenticeship programs, and internal departments to support workforce readiness and skill development.
- Track and report on candidate pipeline activity, including outreach engagement, training participation, certification completion, job readiness, placement, retention, and advancement outcomes.
- Assist with organizing and participating in workforce development partnership meetings, job fairs, and community engagement events.
- Support development and execution of outreach campaigns, including use of digital tools such as QR-based intake, targeted communications, and event-based recruitment strategies.
- Maintain ongoing communication with prospective candidates regarding training opportunities, project updates, and employment pathways.
- Respond to Shareholder inquiries regarding workforce opportunities in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate logistics and follow-through for workforce development activities, including scheduling, participant coordination, communication, and execution of events or programs.
- Assist in the development of reports, presentations, and workforce development materials for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Support internal teams and partners in understanding Shareholder hiring preferences, agreements, and workforce commitments.
- Support alignment of workforce development processes with internal talent systems, including candidate intake, transition into Workday or similar HRIS/Talent systems, and visibility for hiring teams.
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to enhance coordination between outreach, training, HR, and hiring functions.
- Represent and promote Calista Corporation workforce development initiatives at meetings, career fairs, and community events; some travel is required.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of the mining industry or large-scale industrial project environments, including workforce structures, skilled trades, operational roles, safety culture, and the importance of aligning training and workforce readiness with project phases and operational needs.
- Extremely perceptive and relationship-oriented, with the ability to relate to individuals at all levels while balancing corporate needs, employee goodwill, and public image.
- Knowledge of workforce development and training programs, including internships, apprenticeships, mentorships, and career pathway models.
- Knowledge of project management and planning principles, including coordination of timelines, resources, and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the geographic Calista Region, regional agencies, and statewide education, training, and workforce development programs.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including Shareholder needs assessment, service quality standards, and evaluation of satisfaction.
- Knowledge of business, human resources, and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, recruitment, selection, training, compensation, and personnel systems.
- Knowledge of resume development, interviewing, networking strategies, and the use of social and digital media for workforce outreach.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance, including learning styles, motivation, and individual differences.
- Knowledge of communication, media production, and information dissemination techniques across written, oral, visual, and digital platforms; experience with training software and digital technologies preferred.
- Skill in designing and developing outreach, training, or marketing materials.
- Strong verbal, written, and active listening skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one, group, and public presentation settings.
- Strong reading comprehension and writing skills, including the ability to read, interpret, and prepare reports, correspondence, and procedural documents.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and judgment skills, including the ability to assess performance and recommend improvements or corrective actions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to changing needs.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe products; experience with Deltek or Adobe Professional a plus.
- Experience working with applicant tracking systems, HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday), or candidate database systems preferred.
- Ability to manage and maintain structured candidate data with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Understanding of rural Alaska communities and ability to engage with Shareholders in a culturally responsive and relationship-driven manner preferred.
- Support identification and coordination of funding, training assistance, or workforce development resources that help candidates access employment and training opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in business, human resources, education, workforce development, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum four years of experience working with the mining industry or large-scale industrial projects, including exposure to operational workforce structures, skilled trades, safety-driven environments, or project-based workforces.
- Minimum of three years of experience in workforce development, training coordination, human resources, or program support in Alaska.
- Experience working with multi-organization partnerships, joint ventures, or community-based programs preferred.
- Ability to travel for day or overnight trips as required, including small aircraft to and from remote villages or project site.
- Ability to speak Yup'ik preferred.
- Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
