- Identifies possible ineffective drug therapy or adverse reactions, significant side effects, drug allergies, and contra-indicated medication and reports to supervisor.
- Observes and records activities and findings in the clinical record and reporting to the physician the client's reaction to treatment and any changes in the client's condition.
- Instructs other health team personnel including, the appropriate, home health aide and family members in certain phases of physical therapy with which they may work with the client.
- Participates with staff, client, and physician in discharge activities and assists the Physical Therapist in completing the Physical Therapy discharge summary within the designated framework of the Agency policies.
- Communicates effectively with all those providing care.
- Under the supervision of the physical therapist, assists in evaluation and development of the rehabilitative plan of care and in periodic re-evaluation as indicated.
- As directed, performs routine strengthening and therapeutic exercises.
- Assists in teaching exercise programs to patient and family.
- Consults with the therapist regarding the outcome of home visits and reports physical findings in written form.
- Writes daily progress notes on patients, and submits same within 72 hours, and prepares periodic summary reports as indicated.
- SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS
(EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE) - Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Communicate effectively in English (the primary language of the residents)
- Work well in a team or alone
- Organized and flexible
- Computer proficient
- Must have at least 2 years' Physical Therapy Assistant experience.
- CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Registered Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of Florida
- CPR certification
