Departmental and Undergraduate Laboratory Assistant (Summer)

Case Western Reserve University: STUDENT EMPLOYMENT: Case School of Engineering (STUDENT) Location Case Western Reserve University Open Date May 13, 2026 Description The Departmental and Undergraduate Laboratory Assistant works under the supervision of the Managing Engineer, Undergraduate Laboratory Manager and Department Assistant in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering to provide administrative and clerical support to the department, help update publicity materials, clean and maintain the laboratory spaces of individual professors and other common spaces in the Department. The student will also help prepare the laboratory spaces and equipment for the Fall semester. Sorting and distributing departmental mail and packages. General administrative support work, scanning documents, preparing materials, assisting professors and staff with special projects. Running on-campus errands. Assisting in updating and creating digital departmental directories and slideshows. Assisting in preparing lab chemicals for chemical waste disposal according to CWRU EHS protocols. Cleaning and sorting glassware, lab supplies and lab equipment from labs being repurposed in the department. Creating and preparing documentation to catalog chemicals, equipment and other information on departmental and individual labs. Assisting in the routine maintenance, cleaning and preparation of the undergraduate experiments for ECHE 362 and ECHE 367 Performing supervised equipment upgrades as necessary Other duties and projects at the discretion of the Managing Engineer, Undergraduate Laboratory Manager and Department Assistant. The ideal candidate is a rising third - or fourth-year student with some mechanical ability, some programming knowledge, ability to work independently, and strong attention to detail. Strong organizational and communication skills are desired.
