Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Ohana Veterinary Care Ohana Veterinary Care is a small animal practice with three full‑time doctors and one relief doctor. The environment is family‑like, encouraging, and cohesive. Externship Overview Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, and supporting surgical procedures. Responsibilities Gather patient histories Perform physical exams Create treatment plans Conduct diagnostics Provide dentistry services Observe and assist in surgical procedures Assist in medical management of patients Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients Eligibility and Duration Externship experiences range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships are offered to 3rd and 4th year veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education. Stipend Students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. View stipend amounts and program details.
