Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III NICU travel position requiring delivery attendance experience and a minimum of 3 years of NICU nursing experience.

Details

• Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• Every other weekend requirement
• At least 1 major and 1 minor holiday coverage required
• Self-scheduling unit
• Patient ratio of 1:2–3 in the NICU
• Float requirement to the Normal Newborn Nursery (NOU) with ratios of 1:4–6
• Level III NICU setting
• Epic EMR — experience required
• Attends vaginal and C-section deliveries and assists with newborn transition

Requirements

• Active Louisiana RN license or compact license currently in hand
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of NICU nursing experience required
• Level III NICU experience required
• Delivery attendance experience (vaginal and C-section) required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in neonatal IV placement, lab draws, ventilator management, and central line management
• Experience with blood and medication administration via multiple routes (IV, IM, SQ, ETT, OGT, NGT, oral, rectal, topical, and eye drops/ointment)
• Supervisor reference dated within the last 12 months required for consideration
• Copy of Driver's License required for consideration
• Any employment gaps exceeding 30 days must be listed and explained

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include admitting and discharging neonates and newborns, coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team (NNP, MD, RN, Social Services, RT, Radiology, OT), parent education and updates, and breastfeeding support
• Procedures include assisting with chest tube insertion, PICC/UAC/UVC placement, x-rays, CBG/ABG collection, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, EEGs, intubation, oxygen and nitric oxide administration, and exchange transfusions
• Purple/grape scrubs required
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
• Former permanent employees of any LCMC facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
• RTO is limited to 5 days or fewer for the duration of the contract
