Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

Description:
The unit has a total of 26 beds with a patient ratio of 2:1.


Total care is provided by registered nurses.


The unit includes the use of ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, balloon pumps, ventriculostomy drains, and glucometers.


All staff utilize mobile technology.


Personal protective equipment (PPE) includes masks, face shields, goggles, and PAPR for COVID-19 patients.


The documentation system used is Meditech with Evidence Based Clinical Documentation (EBCD).


All nursing shifts are twelve hours from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with every other weekend required.


Holiday requirements are also mandatory.


Staff may float to other medical-surgical units as needed, prioritizing intensive care units.


Patient experience expectations include hourly rounding, bedside hand-off reporting, completion of My Care Board during hand-off, and the use of AIDET with a focus on compassionate care.


The unit is certified as a Pathways to Excellence and is working toward Magnet status.


It is also a certified stroke and chest pain center, and a Level II trauma center.


Various procedures are performed on the unit, including intubations, cardioversions, ventriculostomy drain placements and management, IABP management, continual renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and proning of patients.


The dress code consists of ceil blue scrubs, with white or ceil blue scrub jackets being optional.


For those working with COVID patients, green surgical scrubs will be provided.


Many staff members hold national certifications, and there are several highly tenured nursing staff.


There is an option for self-scheduling within certain guidelines and an emphasis on the use of mobile technology.


This unit directly cares for ICU COVID-19 patients.


Quality measures are highly maintained and have received recognition as a unit of distinction.
