Diesel Mechanic Technician

Position Description Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Charlotte, North Carolina. The position offers weekly pay, comprehensive benefits, and a career path in diesel technology. Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections. Execute preventive maintenance. Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools when applicable. Identify root causes of basic failures and perform required repairs. Replace defective components as instructed. Maintain facility and shop equipment. Communicate with customers/drivers to determine complaint nature. Use the shop management system and electronic documentation. Adhere to all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT). Perform other support duties to support operations as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred). Basic automotive tools proficiency. Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake, and tire work. At least 2 years of combined classroom training and work experience in required areas (preferred). Valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A (preferred). Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire. Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor‑vehicle check. Additional screening may include employment and education verification, motor‑vehicle record checks, road test, and customer‑specific background requirements.
