Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWilhelm Site Services is looking for an experienced Site Foreman to lead our field crews and run commercial site work projects.We’re a growing site-work contractor, and we’re looking for someone who wants more than just a seat in a machine or a list of tasks for the day. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a project, lead a good crew, and work directly with our Project Manager to keep the job moving from mobilization through completion.Our foremen are trusted to run their sites. We provide the support, equipment, and resources to get the work done, and we want someone who takes pride in putting together a good project and a productive crew.Company truck provided. Competitive pay based on experience. Strong growth opportunity as the company continues to expand.The WorkOur projects are primarily commercial site-development work. Depending on the job, that can include:Mass and fine gradingSubgrade and aggregate base preparationStorm, sanitary, and water utilitiesStormwater management and drainageErosion and sediment controlClearing and demolitionBuilding pads and general site preparationMost of our field crews are 3–4 people, typically a combination of operators and laborers. As the Site Foreman, you’ll be responsible for organizing that crew, planning the work, and keeping everyone productive and moving in the same direction.What You'll Be DoingYou’ll work closely with the Project Manager while taking day-to-day ownership of the site.That includes:Reading and understanding full civil construction plan setsPlanning daily and upcoming work and helping sequence the projectPerforming field layout and coordinating with surveyorsUsing elevations, benchmarks, grades, and GPS equipmentManaging cuts, fills, compaction, subgrade, and finish elevationsOverseeing underground utility and pipe installation, including bedding, structures, slopes, and invertsDirecting operators and laborers and setting expectations for production and qualityOperating excavation and grading equipment when neededCoordinating with general contractors, inspectors, subcontractors, surveyors, and suppliersCompleting daily reports and project documentation through mobile appsIdentifying issues early and working with the Project Manager to keep the job movingWe’re looking for someone who can see the whole project — not just the task immediately in front of them.What We're Looking ForThe right person will have solid field experience in commercial excavation and site development and be comfortable leading others.Preferred experience includes:7+ years of site-work or heavy civil construction experiencePrevious foreman, lead operator, or crew-lead experienceStrong ability to read civil plans and detailsExperience with grading, utilities, and site developmentAbility to perform basic site layout and work from elevationsHeavy equipment operating experienceGPS machine control or layout experience is a strong plusStrong communication and problem-solving skillsValid driver's licenseA degree isn’t what makes someone successful in this role. We’re much more interested in someone who understands the work, can lead people, and knows how to get a project built.TravelThis position does require travel at times.We work throughout the region, and some projects are several hours from home and require the crew to travel out for the week.
