These include:Trustworthy – We strive for our actions to match our words in all our relationships.Servant – Hearted – We enable and empower our team to serve the needs of customers, Team members, suppliers and the community.Relational – We aim to build healthy relationships while fostering and environment that promotes compassion, balance, and personal and professional growth.Resourceful – We value strategic insourcing, first looking to create solutions internally, and then looking to apply that knowledge to future opportunities.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:Must safely set up and operate the machine to acquire quality product at the desired target speed of each run.SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Reviews job ticket instructions to determine printing specifications, machine set up procedures, and supplies neededFollows all instructions issued on the job ticket advising the supervisor of any incorrect or non-recorded information necessary for proper set up and operationStages correct stock and make ready materials for the next scheduled job at the feeder prior to the completion of the job in progressLoads feeder and checks sheets for all defectsResponsible for the setup and operation of the feeder, assists press operators in the setup of the pressAssist in the washing up of press, cleaning wash up trays, and properly disposing of waste materials as neededAssist press operators in all maintenance issues as required, reports any suspected problems to press operatorsAbility to perform the Second Press operator's position in their absenceMaintains a sufficient amount of supplies at the press to produce each job and assures sufficient quantities are available at shift changeMust possess professional appearance and mannerisms with the ability to positively interact and represent the company to customers during press checksCommunicates with other team membersWears appropriate PPE for the task and the area.Welcomes updates and improvements to processes and follows new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operationPerforms work in a manner that keeps down time to a minimumMaintains a clean work environment in accordance with Food Safety and 5S systemsFollows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Use situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditionsMay be asked to help with duties in other areas or departmentsPerforms other duties as assignedEffectively utilize any machine downtime (not including approved breaks) by assisting with set-up or performing other tasks associated with maintaining a clean work environment or as otherwise instructed by a supervisorOccasionally the Assistant Press Operator will be asked to perform a different job, or be temporarily placed in a different department based on production needsAUTHORITY: In the absence of the Second Press Operator, the Press Feeder must have the ability to lead a crew that has been placed with them to execute the demands of the printing operation efficiently and to respond to oral instructions from his/her supervisor and other written instructions.QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize software. Must have mechanical ability and skills.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide both fractions and decimals, solve equations, read a tape measure, and have an understanding of both standard and metric measuring systems.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the Team member is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with arms and hands. The Team member frequently is required to climb, balance, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Operator frequently must lift/move 25 to 50 pounds. Team member must be able to perform these functions for a minimum of 8 hours straight (with a 30-minute meal break any other applicable breaks during his/her shift) on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team member successfully performing the essential functions of this job. Moving mechanical parts will also be exposed; safety guards have been put in place for the safety of all Team members but during set up, if a machine must be broken down and reassembled to complete the next job, questions regarding such operation should be directed to your supervisor as they arise.
