Finishes Solutions is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement and purchasing operations for residential & commercial construction projects throughout the Greater Houston market.

We are looking for someone who knows the national homebuilder industry, understands the Houston trade market, and already has strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.

This is an in-office position for a hands-on purchasing professional who can manage the entire buyout and procurement process while helping drive cost savings, vendor performance, and project execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage purchasing and procurement for construction projects from initial bid through completion
• Source, qualify, and negotiate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors
• Lead subcontractor buyout and scope review
• Prepare and manage purchase orders and subcontracts
• Negotiate pricing, terms, schedules, and scopes of work
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local Houston-area trades and suppliers
• Monitor material pricing, availability, lead times, and potential supply-chain risks
• Work closely with construction, estimating, accounting, and project management teams
• Coordinate purchasing activities with project schedules
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, value engineering, and improved purchasing efficiencies
• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor performance
• Help establish and maintain purchasing procedures, systems, and controls
• Monitor budgets and ensure purchases remain within approved project costs
• Assist with forecasting and procurement planning for upcoming projects

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3 years or more of purchasing experience with a National Home Builder
• Experience working with a national homebuilder or production homebuilder
• Experience with construction management / ERP / purchasing software
• Strong understanding of residential construction and construction materials
• Established trade and supplier relationships in the Greater Houston market
• Proven experience negotiating subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Experience with buyout, scope review, POs, and vendor agreements
• Strong understanding of construction budgets and cost control
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects, vendors, and deadlines simultaneously
• Must be local to the Greater Houston area
• Must be willing to work in the office
• Experience with value engineering and cost-reduction initiatives
• Experience supporting multifamily, land development, civil infrastructure, or commercial construction

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a strategic, relationship-driven purchasing professional who knows how to get projects bought, negotiate aggressively, build strong vendor partnerships, and protect the company's margins.

You should be comfortable picking up the phone and getting answers from subcontractors and suppliers, negotiating better pricing, solving material issues, and working directly with the construction team to keep projects moving.
