About this Position

The Healthcare Management Adjunct Professor delivers foundational and intermediate coursework within the Associate Degree Healthcare Management program. This role is responsible for teaching foundational core courses, operational management principles, leadership, statistics, human resources, and administrative workflows. The position leverages industry leadership, data analytics, or educational management experience to foster student workforce readiness and deliver rigorous digital learning via Canvas.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Associate or Bachelor Degree and licensure/certification in discipline required (technical program/non-transfer classes).

Experience:

  • Must have educational qualifications to teach in subject area or have documented specialty education/experience to meet tested experience requirements, as per the Higher Learning Commission’s publication on Determining Qualified Faculty and provide leadership in an academic discipline and/or degree program.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of full-time leadership, administrative, human resources, or operational management experience in an educational, public sector, clinical, or organizational setting.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Professional familiarity with healthcare delivery concepts, medical office leadership, human resources, or health-adjacent administrative frameworks.
  • Teaching Competence – Must be able to create lesson plans, content, presentations, ancillary materials, and assignments to effectively transform information to knowledge for students; have the ability to assess student learning and progress.
  • Communication skills – Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with clear, grammatically correct English; requires interaction with supervisors, colleagues, students, alumni, advisory committee members, and the public, using tact, discretion, and independent judgment.
  • Computer skills – Must be demonstrably proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel), as well as e-mail and internet, and learning management systems.
  • Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.
Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

M.Ed., MBA, MHA, MS, or closely related field from an accredited institution (transfer classes)

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Technical and Analytics Proficiency: Demonstrated experience utilizing data analytics/predictive metrics to drive intervention, compliance or organizational performance.
  • Instructional Technology: Hands-on experience designing and managing virtual learning environments or instructional frameworks within an LMS (Canvas preferred).
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, peer coaching, or faculty/staff mentorship.
  • Proven track record in program design, operational scaling, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Professional familiarity with healthcare delivery concepts, medical office leadership, or health-adjacent administrative frameworks.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Deliver Foundational Coursework - Facilitate assigned undergraduate courses (e.g., leadership, management principles, healthcare statistics/data analysis, and introductory administrative workflows) using approved syllabi, textbooks, and institutional curriculum standards.
  2. Workforce Competency Development- Translate managerial, organizational, and operational concepts into practical applications to prepare students for entry-level supervisory and clerical roles.
  3. Maintain and organize assigned course content in Canvas, including course materials, assignments, and other resources, as appropriate for the course.
  4. Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI)- Maintain consistent, instructor-led communication and active instructional engagement in accordance.
  5. Diagnostic and Academic Tracking- Monitor student performance, engagement metrics, and retention risks; design targeted academic interventions and support strategies to guide struggling or non-traditional students toward course completion.
  6. Timely Grading and Feedback- Evaluate assignments, discussions, and assessments promptly, providing constructive, individualized feedback and submitting midterm and final grades by published institutional deadlines.
  7. Provide virtual office hours to support students with course-related questions and provide academic guidance as appropriate.
  8. Program and Institutional Compliance- Adhere to university policies, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations, accessibility guidelines (ADA/Section 508), and academic integrity standards.
  9. Continuous Quality Improvement- Participate in course outcome assessments, department check-ins, and curriculum refinement initiatives to support program growth.
  10. Remains current with theory and practice in the profession.
  11. Participates in an active advisory board for degree program.
  12. Maintain student and course records with updates on the learning management system.
  13. Maintain and file current course outlines, objectives and grading procedures for all courses.
  14. Exhibit innovative and adaptive instructional methods.
  15. Completes all mandatory training.
  16. Fulfill all requirements as noted in the Adjunct Handbook.
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Work will be performed in an office and classroom environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone, via email, and various communication platforms.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged sitting or standing during lectures, virtual sessions, and grading.
  • Duties require extensive use of computers, telephones and other office equipment.
  • Requires possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (If an object weighs more than 45 lbs., OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift).
