Dietetics Tech

This position is responsible for nutrition intervention, nutrition counseling, education, and documenting nutrition care plans. Participates in the quality improvement program at the direction of the dietitian. Also responsible for screening new admissions, conducting meal rounds, calculating calorie counts and checking tray line. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span. The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs is required. Enrollment in or completion of: An approved Dietetic Technology Consortium Program at an accredited college or university through the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND); OR an approved Nutrition or Dietetics Bachelor's Program at an accredited college or university through the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) within one year of hire date, must pass the national registration examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Must complete continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration. Must have good interpersonal skills and a thorough understanding of special diets, either through coursework or on-the-job training.
