Accounting Supervisor

LHH Recruitment Solutions is searching for an Accounting Supervisor for a non-profit in Richmond, Virginia.

A mission-driven organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, audit readiness, finance systems, and team leadership. This full-time role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys improving processes, strengthening reporting, and supporting sound financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead monthly close process, including schedules, task assignments, review controls, journal entries, reconciliations, payment runs, receivables, credit cards, fixed assets, and supporting documentation.

• Supervise, coach, and review the work of an Accountant.

• Prepare financial statements, functional expense reporting, variance analysis, cash-flow reporting, and budget support.

• Maintain grant, contract, and restricted fund accounting, including reports, drawdowns, allocations, and audit-ready documentation.

• Coordinate finance-related technology integrations, application access, vendor records, asset tracking, contract calendars, and facilities-related financial analysis.

• Lead audit readiness, support tax and information filings, and document internal controls related to approvals, payments, reconciliations, access, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

• Minimum of five years of accounting experience, including close, financial statement preparation, and supervisory or substantive review responsibilities.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, audit preparation, and financial reporting.

• Experience with fund accounting, grant reporting, multi-currency consolidation, or restricted funding is strongly preferred.

• Hands-on experience with BI/dashboard tools such as DOMO, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.

• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with QuickBooks or comparable accounting and workflow systems.

• Experience with finance applications, vendor administration, fixed assets, leases, facilities-related financial processes, or technology-related financial administration is a plus.

Salary Range: $80,000-$85,000
