Job Description
Manufacturing Technology Engineer
Manufacturing Technology Group
Big Ridge Outdoor Living – Athens, TN
Full-Time | On-Site | $75,000–$80,000 per year
Build the Future of American Manufacturing
What if your job wasn't just designing products...
What if you were helping build the technology that powers an entire manufacturing company?
Big Ridge Outdoor Living is a rapidly growing American manufacturer of premium outdoor kitchens, luxury outdoor bars, TV lift cabinets, fireplaces, and fire features sold throughout the United States.
We're looking for someone who loves technology, enjoys solving problems, and wants to help shape how products are designed and manufactured.
This is a unique opportunity to become one of the founding members of our new Manufacturing Technology Group .
You do not need to know SketchUp today.
You do not need experience programming collaborative robots.
We'll teach you.
What we need is someone who learns quickly, thinks logically, and genuinely enjoys mastering new technology.
About the Manufacturing Technology Group:
Our Manufacturing Technology Group is responsible for developing the systems, processes, and technologies that improve how our products are designed, engineered, and manufactured.
As our company grows, this group will lead initiatives involving design automation, manufacturing technology, CNC equipment, collaborative robots (cobots), AI-assisted engineering, and continuous process improvement.
This position is an opportunity to help build that future from the ground up.
What You'll Do:
Over time you'll become a key technical leader within our Manufacturing Technology Group by helping develop and improve:
- SketchUp product design
- Reusable design libraries and intelligent components
- Product standardization
- Manufacturing documentation
- Design automation
- Collaborative robot (cobot) programming
- CNC manufacturing workflows
- Process improvement
- AI tools that improve engineering and manufacturing efficiency
Every year you'll continue expanding your knowledge while helping us build smarter manufacturing systems.
Who We're Looking For:
You may be a recent graduate or early in your career. What matters most is how you think.
We're looking for someone who:
- Loves computers and technology
- Learns software quickly
- Enjoys solving difficult problems
- Is naturally curious
- Likes improving systems and processes
- Pays close attention to detail
- Takes ownership of their work
- Wants to build something meaningful
- Gets excited about manufacturing, automation, and continuous improvement
If you've ever taught yourself software, built a computer, experimented with automation, worked on a 3D printer, programmed something for fun, or simply enjoy figuring out how things work, we'd love to meet you.
Preferred Background:
Degrees in areas such as:
- Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Manufacturing Engineering Technology
- Mechatronics
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Technology
- Product Design
- Computer Science
- Or a related technical field
Experience with SketchUp, CAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, CNC equipment, robotics, or manufacturing is a plus—but not required. Your willingness to learn is far more important than checking every box.
Why This Opportunity Is Different:
Most companies hire engineers to work on one small piece of a much larger organization.
Here, you'll help build the systems that drive an entire manufacturing operation. You'll work directly with company leadership.
If you discover a better way to design a product, improve a manufacturing process, automate a repetitive task, or implement a new technology, you'll have the opportunity to help make it happen.
Your work won't sit on a shelf—it will become part of how we build our products every day.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $75,000–$80,000 starting salary
- Full-time, on-site position in Athens, Tennessee
- Paid vacation
- Paid holidays
- Long-term career growth
- Direct mentorship from company leadership
- Continuous learning with emerging manufacturing technologies
Our Hiring Philosophy:
At Big Ridge Outdoor Living, we believe exceptional teams are built on character, integrity, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
We can teach software.
We can teach manufacturing.
We can teach new technology.
What we can't teach is humility, work ethic, personal accountability, and the desire to continually improve.
If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in your work, supports your teammates, and wants to build something meaningful, you'll fit in well here.
We don't hire people to fill positions. We hire people to grow with the company.
When you apply, we would love for you to include a short note answering one question: Tell us about a something you've built, improved, repaired, automated, or taught yourself that you're proud of?
