We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Specimen Processing Technician to support the specimen preparation and handling functions within a leading medical laboratory environment. Responsibilities:

Perform general specimen support functions, including presort, pickup, and delivery of samples to the laboratory.

Operate equipment such as centrifuges, microfilming or imaging devices, and perform aliquoting of specimens as necessary.

Conduct data entry with high accuracy, handling up to 6,000 keystrokes per hour, ensuring proper documentation of specimen details.

Assist with specimen preparation for testing, understanding various specimen types related to ordered tests.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to biosafety protocols and safety practices in a biohazard environment.

Support laboratory operations by demonstrating flexibility to adapt to changing regulatory requirements and daily workflow updates.

Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth specimen processing.

Follow safety policies and maintain compliance with laboratory standards and regulations.

Contribute to a positive work environment through strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.

Required Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent education.

Basic computer proficiency; familiarity with laboratory testing and specimen processing is a plus.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.

Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a production environment while maintaining quality standards.

Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

Flexibility to work primarily night shifts, with availability for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and work safely within a biohazard environment.

Nice to Have Skills:

Prior laboratory experience or familiarity with medical terminology.

Experience working in a hospital laboratory or clinical setting.

Knowledge of regulatory compliance related to laboratory testing.

Experience with microfilming or imaging equipment.

Preferred Education and Experience:

No previous experience required; however, candidates with past laboratory, hospital, or production environment experience are encouraged to apply.

Medical or clinical background, including understanding of medical terminology, is beneficial but not mandatory.

Other Requirements:

Candidates must wear closed-toed shoes for the interview and work shifts.

Adherence to safety protocols, including no gum, food, or drinks in the work area, even water.

This role offers a 15% shift differential for night shift work.

The position involves working in a biohazard environment with ongoing safety training.
