The Facilities position is an administrative position with broad district wide responsibilities. The individual has direct responsibility for overseeing all aspects of facilities management. The position incorporates all responsibilities required to maintain the buildings, facilities, and equipment of the district.
Education/Training/Experience : Minimum : AA Degree or equivalent in facilities management, plant operations and management or construction management. BA preferred. Bilingual preferred. Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:
The Facility Director possesses knowledge of methods, techniques, supplies, materials, and equipment utilized in the operation, maintenance, repair and construction of a school facility; knowledge of policies, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to the maintenance, repair and safe operation of the school facility; safe operation of hand tools and power equipment; ability to follow oral and written instructions and maintain a cooperative relationship with co-workers with little or no supervision; ability to be courteous to students, staff, and the general public. Plan and direct the work of others and formulate and carry out a plan for maintenance projects. Use common courtesy in the course of duties. Resources Used in Performing Job Include (but are not limited to ):
Standard office equipment. Basic Office Computer program abilities. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher) Physical/Cognitive Requirements :
Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; communicate verbally and electronically; reach with hands and arms; stand and move throughout the building and/or to other facilities, and drive. Occasionally required to lift and/or exert force of up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Environmental Conditions :
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel to facilities throughout the district is integral to the job.

Essential Job Functions :
- Assumes the responsibility for the effective management of physical plant personnel, school district buildings, grounds, equipment and vehicles.
- Supervises Maintenance Department Staff. Supervises and evaluates facilities, maintenance and warehouse personnel.
- Works closely with the Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer (COO) to manage capital budgets, organize construction meetings and oversee construction management programs and initiatives.
- Coordinates initiatives with other departments whenever there must be collaboration and cooperation between departments in relationship to the facilities.
- Responsible for developing and managing an adequate system of access and control to facilities.
- In conjunction with the Chief Financial officer to prepare the annual budget for the Physical Plant and its services.
- Completes all Preventative Maintenance Plans; bond and capital outlay paperwork and documents as required by the Public Schools Capital Outlay Council (PSCOC) and the Public Schools Facility Authority (PSFA).
- Monitors the maintenance and custodial yearly plans for the district.
- Provides required OSHA and ADA training and up to date relevant training opportunities for all physical plant employees.
- Supervises work assignments and maintenance schedules.
- Provides direction and supervision to maintenance personnel.
- Initiates and supervises an effective energy management program in conjunction with the Director of Finance.
- Oversees the monitoring of environmental conditions within the district such as Radon, Asbestos, Water quality and indoor air quality as prescribed by state and federal laws.
- Follows established safety practices.
- Works cooperatively with and is responsive to school principals and central office staff.
- Complies with federal, state and local rules and regulations.
- Regularly attend school board meetings and update the board on its facilities and properties.
- Perform such other tasks assigned by the Superintendent. Required to be on call after hours and weekend.
- Demonstrates reliability as evidenced by attendance records and punctuality.
- Properly notifies supervisor and/or designee of absences or tardiness.
- Begins and completes work within the allotted time.
- Consistently appears in attire appropriate to the work environment.
- Demonstrates skill in the use of equipment including its capabilities, limitations and appropriate/special application,
- Protects the District's resources through appropriate and careful use of supplies and equipment.
- Utilizes appropriate body mechanics to aid in the prevention of muscle strain/injury.
