Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | 12-Hour Day Shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) | Three weekends per six-week schedule | Every other holiday

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 32-bed Neuro ICU setting, managing a general ICU population including post-stroke, sepsis, DKA, post-code, and respiratory distress patients; may progress to more acute neuro patients once established on the unit
• Perform and document NIHSS assessments and dysphagia screens; manage external ventriculostomy devices, drains, and biopsies
• Initiate and titrate sedatives, paralytics, cardiac drips, and vasoactive medications; manage ETT/ventilator patients (respiratory therapy available)
• Implement and maintain sepsis protocols and CRRT care as assigned
• Float within skillset as needed, including to a sister campus approximately 8 miles away and a cross-state campus approximately 11 miles away, with a minimum of 2 hours notice for cross-campus float; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
• May be required to precept students and new hires in this teaching environment

Required Qualifications

• Current, active RN compact license
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 full year in an ICU setting
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required; Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Must pass telemetry/12-lead EKG interpretation test
• Strong neuro assessment, critical thinking, and dysphagia screening skills required
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with CRRT
• tPA administration and post-tPA assessments
• Massive transfusion protocol experience (Belmont device)
• Adaptable, resilient, and collaborative work style with strong interpersonal skills
