Embark on a highly impactful role supporting an elementary student as a dedicated 1:1 paraprofessional, offering both academic and behavioral assistance. This contract position provides the unique opportunity to build a lasting bond with a student who benefits greatly from consistency, patience, and expert guidance. Work Monday through Friday, approximately 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, for a total of 35–37.5 hours per week, continuing through late May 2027.
What you’ll do:
- Provide trauma-informed, one-on-one behavioral and academic support to an elementary student diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD)
- Help maintain consistent daily routines and reinforce a neutral, supportive environment
- Ride the bus with the student as needed, ensuring a smooth transition to and from school
- Implement the student’s Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) and respond to escalations with calm de-escalation strategies
- Collect and report data as part of the student’s progress monitoring
- Uphold strong, professional boundaries and encourage the student's independence
- Collaborate effectively with the teaching staff and special education team
Who we’re looking for:
- At least one year of experience in a behavior support or trauma-informed paraprofessional role, listed clearly on your resume
- Background in special education, behavioral health, psychology, social work, or trauma-informed care
- Exceptional patience, emotional regulation skills, and the ability to defuse challenging situations
- Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and adhering closely to structured plans
- Meet Pennsylvania paraprofessional requirements (para certification, associate degree, or 48+ college credits). Those without certification must be willing to obtain it within 60 days of hire
