Lab Assistant (9605C), Department of Molecular & Cell Biology – #85678 Position Type: Full‑time (40 hours/week) Limited (temporary) appointment eligible for UC benefits, with possible extension up to 18 months. Departmental Overview The UC Berkeley Molecular Therapeutics Initiative (MTI) reinvents drug discovery at the interface of academia and biotech. MTI focuses on detailed mechanistic understanding of disease pathobiology, interdisciplinary collaboration across biology, chemistry, and computational science, and strong relationships between faculty and the biotech sector. Position Summary Responsible for laboratory duties, including assisting with planning, execution, and data collection for a research project, under close supervision. Responsibilities Laboratory Support and Experiment Preparation (65%): Assist with laboratory management, prepare buffers and reagents, support scientific investigations and experiments. Data Collection and Analysis (10%): Record and analyze data; collect, prepare, and/or test samples. Communication of Results (5%): Present results to senior staff. Documentation and Reporting (5%): Write reports, reviews, and summaries. Professional Development (5%): Keep up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments. Required Qualifications Working knowledge of research functions. Skills to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Ability to assist with research experiments under supervision. Ability to follow instructions and attention to detail. Salary & Benefits This is a non‑exempt, bi‑weekly paid position with a salary range estimated under California law. The range is based on experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and internal equity. This 8‑month appointment is full‑time (40 hours/week), limited (temporary) and eligible for UC benefits, with possibility of extension up to 18 months contingent on funding.
