Responsibilities:

• Perform scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy duty trucks, light vans, and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair major mechanical and hydraulic systems including engines, transmissions, suspension, brakes, drivetrain, steering, and electrical systems.
• Conduct thorough inspections, identify potential issues, and provide accurate diagnoses before repairs.
• Use diagnostic tools, computerized scan equipment, hand and power tools to troubleshoot problems.
• Perform preventive maintenance including fluid changes, filter replacements, lubrication, tire checks/rotations, and safety inspections.
• Conduct road tests or equipment operation tests to confirm repairs and ensure proper function before return to service.
• Maintain accurate work orders, service logs, repair records, and documentation.
• Collaborate with parts department or supply chain to order and track required parts and materials.
• Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with all safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
• Assist fellow technicians or apprentices if required, and contribute to a teamwork-oriented shop culture.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience working on heavy duty trucks or commercial vehicles in a shop or fleet environment (or equivalent vocational/technical education in diesel/truck mechanics).
• Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills across engine, hydraulic, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical systems.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment, read schematics/blueprints, and interpret technical repair manuals.
• Physical ability to lift heavy parts (up to 75lbs or more), stand for extended periods, and work under shop conditions.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. CDL or heavy duty endorsement is a plus (if role includes road testing or transportation duties).
• Strong work ethic, good communication skills, reliability, and attention to detail.
